Pure Corde Gutstrings
Pure Corde gut strings was founded in 2011 in Potsdam by violin maker Valentin Oelmüller and Mathis Julian Schulze. In close collaboration with a string maker in Morocco, we produce strings that have been adapted perfectly to the specific requirements of European instruments. We can therefore offer purely hand-polished gut strings that meet the sound and material requirements of instruments of the early Baroque period.
In 2006 Reinhild Oelmüller, a cellist and Valentin`s mother, brought back the first gut strings from a holiday trip to Morocco. She discovered them on the Gimbri, a traditional plucked lute used by the Gnawa people. Since then we`ve perfected the strings and developed a comprehensive range which enables us to supply musicians far and wide with our products as well as expert advice.
